The security industry is one awash with stereotypes. Last week we wrote about being a woman in the security industry, and this week we'd like to continue the theme with equal opportunities. Stereotyping our workforce will never have a place at CSS Ltd. It never has and it never will.

We spend a lot of time when it comes to hiring our security guards. We never subcontract simply because we feel like we then lose touch with the people 'on the ground', so to speak. The same is true for the support staff in our office in Wisbech. Any business owner will know that recruitment is costly. If you don't hire the 'right' person then end up taking one step forward and two steps back!

Who is the right person for the job?

In our opinion, it all comes down to attitude. It's as simple as that. If you have the right attitude, we can offer you the right opportunity. The colour of your skin, your age, whether or not you have a disability... it's all completely irrelevant. If you come into an interview, wanting to add your expertise, personality and positive mental attitude to the business, then we will do all we can to accommodate you to make you feel completely comfortable and supported in the workforce. The right person for the job is simply the person who has the right attitude.

Malcolm recently joined our telesales department, and we're thrilled to have him as part of the team!

Feeling valued at work

Staff appreciation and feeling valued are hugely important, and it's for this reason we recently introduced the Tony Award. We want everyone to have the opportunity to be recognised, and for us to be completely transparent in what we expect from our workforce.

However, the Tony Award is not where we stop when it comes to valuing our staff. We offer training and support to every member of staff, and hope that demonstrates just how highly we think of them! We want our staff to take pride in their roles, knowing they're valued - because they are!

Having the right support

Nothing is more important than feeling supported at work. Perhaps you're struggling with your home-work life balance, or maybe you're suffering from a personal loss? Our culture focusses on being open and honest, with every security guard knowing exactly who they can turn to if they need support at work. Everyone is treated equally, no matter what role they are in, and no matter who they are as an individual.

As a proud equal opportunities employer, we're always looking for new people to join the team. Our impeccable reputation means we're fortunate enough to watch our business go from strength to strength -- so if you think you could add to the team, then please visit the careers section on our website, or call our office to discuss your application. We'd love to hear from you.
