The coronavirus pandemic has been incredibly tough, but one thing we have seen is the community coming together. That might be through supermarket collections or prescription drop-offs for those that need to shield, or just reaching out to check on each other. They've been extremely testing times, so we were shocked to hear of the events at The Community Shop in Fairstead.

Despite the support that Emma Brock has provided to the community (this past year in particular) through running The Community Shop, her premises was the target of vandalism and fly-tipping. This shop has been such a support to the public, so to see it disrespected with costly repairs to carry out was understandably hugely frustrating. A double bed base, single mattress and bags of rubbish had been left outside the shop, and to make matters worse, the CCTV system had also been damaged by having its wires cut.

In the news article printed by 'Your Local Paper' on Friday, Emma said, 'I was angry. We have to pay to get our rubbish taken away. It's another cost the shop can't afford.' As a security company, we know the limitations with CCTV, with vandalism and damage being one of the main reasons we recommend a physical security presence. This could be in the form of mobile patrols and manned guarding. It's for this reason we have offered to send a security guard to patrol the premises twice a night for a year.

We hope that this contribution will greatly reduce the risk of further crime at her property. Manned guarding and mobile patrols are a great deterrent to crime, and our highly-trained security officers are able to act quickly in response to any suspicious behaviour, as well as detain individuals that are trespassing or causing damage until the local authorities arrive.

Being such a great asset to the community, we wanted to be able to show that the support is there for Emma and that the work that she does is hugely appreciated. This is why, alongside fellow businessman Luke Loades, we have also given a combined total of £1,000 to pay for the replacement CCTV system at The Community Shop.

We want to thank Emma for the work she does not only at The Community Shop, but also in the management of The Community Carers group on Facebook. This group has reached out to vulnerable people to support them through the pandemic, making food parcels for families struggling financially and for those shielding.
