We are pleased to be able to continue the monthly Tony Award into 2019, and the challenge to choose just one of our incredible security officers for the award this month was a difficult one!

For the second time, Ray has won the award! Tony tells us why:

"I am pleased to say that the Monthly Tony Award for January goes to Ray. Whilst there have been a good number of officers that were in contention for the award, it could not be ignored just how hard Ray has work over the last month.

'Whilst playing an integral part in maintaining one of our big contracts, he continues to make himself available to assist the company when needed and often with little notice. It's this attitude to putting the company first which cannot be overlooked.

'In addition to this, Ray made a recommendation for a new officer, who has now been with the company for several weeks. This was just before the busy festive period when demand on services was exceptionally high.

'Ray knows what it takes to be a good officer and I knew that he would not have made the recommendation if the officer did not have the right attributes to add something to the team."

When choosing a winner each month it's imperative that we remain completely fair. We made the decision when launching the award that being a previous winner wouldn't hinder someone's chances of winning the award again. To do so would potentially dampen their willingness to compete each month, knowing they had no chance of winning it. This could, although unlikely, lead to a decline in the standard of our security services -- a risk we will never be willing to take.

The passion that Ray brings to the job every single day made it clear he was a worthy candidate to win the award for a second time. He is an exceptional member of the team and brilliant role model to other security guards within the entire industry, not just our company. There are a few key characteristics we want to mention, things that every security officer should try to attain.

  • Dedication

The security industry is tough, and it therefore needs someone to be dedicated to the role and understand the difference they're making. Long hours, cold nights and busy shifts can be challenging, so dedication to the role will never go unnoticed.

  • Consistency

At CSS Ltd, we have extremely high standards, we never subcontract our staff and we invest in individual training to ensure every client receives exceptional service. Consistency is key.

  • Expectations

Knowing what is expected of a security officer is paramount, and going over and above expectations will always be recognised.

  • Team player

Working at a team and seeing the bigger picture makes challenges like staff shortages much more manageable, and it's an important factor in the security industry.
