At the start of the year, it's understandable to reflect on the previous year and think about all of the changes you could make to improve not only this year but this new decade! One of the most popular things people being to question is their job -- and for good reason. The average person spends the majority of their waking adult life at work, and so it's hugely important to get the nature of the job, and the people you surround yourself with, just right. Beyond that, you need to consider a salary! After all, it's no good doing something you love if you can't pay the bills.

Therefore it comes as no surprise that job hunting can quickly become a stressful and arduous task, especially if you have to factor in a family as well. If you're reading this blog, you're probably considering a career as a security officer -- or perhaps you already work in the industry and know that we're hiring. Either way, there are a number of reasons why security officer roles are worth considering, and why we're a great employer to consider too.

1. Be more active

If one of your New Year resolutions was to be more active, then a role in security is a great place to start. A far cry away from an office job, a security officer is up on his/her feet throughout the shift, whether that's as a door supervisor, mobile patrol or manned guarding position For some of our bigger clients, this might mean patrolling for the majority of the shift, maintaining a security presence across the premises.

2. Challenge yourself

A career in security is challenging. Not only could the role involve evening, night time and weekend working, but the people you might encounter could be fairly volatile. Trespassers, thieves and trouble-makers don't have the kindest reputation after all. The means working hard on de-escalation and conflict management training and developing skills you might otherwise not have needed in other jobs in the past. It's a challenge, but knowing you're making a difference to not only your clients but the wider community, makes it an incredibly rewarding career choice.

3. A salary above the industry average

Finally, there's the money. We never subcontract, believing that it will affect the quality of the security we provide, potentially affecting the reputation we've worked hard to build and maintain. We, therefore, pay our security officers above minimum wage, rewarding them for their dedication. We will always prioritise the welfare of our team and believe that firmly sets us apart from other security employers across the UK.

So, if you're looking to further your career within the security industry, please check the careers section on our website or email us an up to date copy of your C.V. We look forward to meeting you.
