Being a security officer is much more than operating on a mobile patrol or standing on the door of a licensed gaming venue or club. It requires the individual to have a specific set of personality traits, traits that see them excel in the role. We're hugely proud of every single member of the CSS Ltd security guard team, so much so that we concentrate on employee appreciation and recognition. It means a lot to us to reward the hard work of our staff, and we're pleased to say that everyone possesses the traits listed below.

1.Trustworthiness

One of our services is a key holding service and alarm response service. This requires our team to be responsible for the keys to your business premises, and to be the first to respond should an alarm sound at your property. As our client, you'd be putting your trust in us to react quickly and professionally -- it's the job after all. But trustworthiness goes so much deeper than this. The nature of the work is that our security guards work remotely. They are responsible for their timekeeping, reporting and day to day -- or indeed a night to night -- running of the shift. This requires a great deal of trustworthiness.

2.Respect

Our security officers respect each other, our clients, members of the public, and more importantly, they respect the confines of the law. Operating with respect at all times enables them to be able to handle a situation professionally and plays a huge part in de-escalation training.

3.Confidence

Unfortunately, our security officers can be victims of abuse from drunken members of the public or those trying to gain unauthorised access to a property. It's a sad fact that some people just don't respect authority. This requires our security officers to be confident and resilient.

4.Fairness

There's a big difference between self-defence and picking a fight, and a big difference between trespassers and accidentally finding yourself on private property. Our security officers understand what's fair, what people's motives are, and how to act fairly and appropriately in any given situation.

5.Competence

The final point comes down to training. All of our security officers hold a SIA license, and all of them undergo specific training in our purpose built training facility in Wisbech. Training is often tailored to the individual and their specific contracts, but we're always on hand to support our security guards in whatever training they feel would be helpful in competently undertaking their role.
