With a focus on high street shopping and towns and cities promoting ‘shop local’, there is increased footfall to high street retailers up and down the country. Partnering with retail parks becoming increasingly popular, popping up to accompany new housing developments, and retail developments must continue to focus on their security needs. With over 30 years of experience in the security industry, and being confident and competent with supporting retailers, we know we can assist you!

Supporting your retail staff

Our security officers aim to be an extension of your existing team. They are in place to protect your staff from anti-social behaviour and prevent, reduce and confront shoplifters if needed, retaining them until the local authorities can attend. This allows your retail team to focus on paying customers and boosting customer experience, minimising the disruption that crime can have on your business. This allows operations to run normally whilst we handle any situation at hand.

With face masks still being used in shops across the country, we can operate in ways that CCTV simply can’t. We can detain suspicious individuals or those ‘caught in the act’ of shoplifting, ensuring we verify their identity even if they refuse to remove their face masks. Face masks have unfortunately become a convenient way for criminals to hide in plain sight, covering their faces to avoid being identified and there charged for theft.

Undercover security

Whilst uniformed security officers act as an excellent deterrent to crime, they are also -- in their nature -- very obvious, and stand out against the crowd. This has its distinct advantages (detailed below) but also can make them a target to avoid should an opportunistic shoplifter try their luck in your store. Undercover security officers are much more discrete, and our years of experience enable a subtle but highly effective measure against crime.

The safety of your customers

Uniformed security officers are quickly identifiable, and this makes them a great addition to any business -- particularly for the safety of your customers. Legislation requires all SIA licensed security officers to hold a first aid certification, making them excellent first responders should a medical emergency arise. They can also step in if a customer feels unsafe, such as if they are being followed or threatened. Security officers hold a position of trust in society, and security officers are Cater Security are calm, professional, and excellent at their jobs, making them a great addition to any retail team.
