With the UK now opened up, with large-scale events fully underway, it’s understandable that a large proportion of the population is still nervous about COVID-19. This might be due to being a vulnerable individual themselves, or living with or have close contact with vulnerable individuals. Whatever your reasons might be, they’re completely valid – no one can tell you how to feel! It might prompt you to reconsider your career choice, particularly if your previous or current role means close contact with members of the public.

This is where a career in security should be considered. The security industry is incredibly inclusive, and as such, people from all walks of life – old, young, and anything in between – can have a successful and fulfilling career as a security officer. All you need to get started is an SIA license!
As far as COVID-19 is concerned, there are several reasons why it could be seen as a safer role if you’re nervous about close contact.

1.    Lone working

Many of our roles include lone working, whether this is as a mobile patrol officer or manned guard. We have extensive safeguarding protocols in place to ensure your safety throughout your shift, including remote technology. Our alarm response service, unlock/lock service, and many others could also include lone working depending on the client and their requirements.

2.    Working outside

For large industrial sites, construction sites, and many other types of industries we work with, working outside as a security officer is a fairly common practice. As government guidance has stated throughout, being outside is much ‘safer’ regarding COVID-19, as fresh air can blow COVID-19 particles away and it makes it much easier to social distance.

3.    Working during anti-social hours

Whilst many of our security officer positions involve working alongside the hospitality industry, including pubs, clubs, bars, and licensed gaming venues, we also have plenty of positions that include night-time patrolling away from such crowds. If this is your preference, simply make it known to our team at Head Office and we’ll do our utmost to accommodate your needs.

So, if you’re looking to further your career within the security industry, please check the careers section on our website or email us an up-to-date copy of your C.V. We never subcontract, we invest in training and we work hard to support our staff. We look forward to meeting you.
