“Ain’t no mountain high, ain’t no valley low…”

The lyrics we’ve chosen at the title of this blog link back to a classic song, one we think you’ll all be familiar with: ‘Ain’t no mountain high enough’ by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrel. But what has it got to do with the security service we provide? Well, in a nutshell, the chorus of this song demonstrates a key value at CSS Ltd and it can be summarised like this:

Our mobile patrols will do everything they can to provide an exceptional security service!

Our mobile patrols work with a number of different clients, and each of those have different ‘mountains’ and ‘valleys’ for us to cross when on shift – both physically and in the nature of the work. We work with a range of industries including the educational sector, construction sites, retail parks, corporate settings and industrial sites. They all require a different approach, the physical terrain will vary, but so will the way in which we work.

Every client will have their own set of criteria and their own set of challenges – their own mountains and valleys, so to speak. It’s our job as your security provider to overcome them and work with you in finding a solution. For example, a large industrial site might be best to have a vehicle assist with the mobile patrol, so our security officers can cover more ground in less time. A retail park might require our security guards to patrol on foot, enabling them to better check the surrounding perimeters.

“If you need me, call me, no matter where you are, no matter how far…”

These lyrics link back perfectly to our alarm response service. If your alarm calls us, we’ll be there – no matter where we might be, what time of day it might be and no matter what the weather! It’s what we’re trained to do and it’s what we excel at. An alarm response service takes the pressure off you as a business owner to be available all hours of the day and night. It’s also a much safer choice, as you wouldn’t be putting yourself or your employees in harm’s way to attend what could be the scene of a crime if someone is trying to break and enter.

The lyrics, ‘no matter how far’ is key here too. Despite being based in Wisbech, we offer a nationwide security service. This means we can provide a professional, reliable and trustworthy security service tailored to your business, no matter where you are in the UK.

Should you out-source your security or hire in-house?

Making a decision about the security of your company is a difficult one. It should never be rushed, with all aspects carefully considered. Your location, individual needs and budget will all play a factor, and one question we get asked time and time again is should you hire in-house or contract a security provider instead? Whilst in many industries, it makes sense to hire in house, for security, the opposite applies, and here’s why.

    Remember, remember your security agenda…

I think it’s fair to say that winter has arrived. It’s cold, it’s dark and with Halloween now been and gone we’re left with Bonfire Night and then the countdown to Christmas begins. Winter is arguably the most vulnerable time for your business when it comes to security as the nights are longer, and it’s much more likely for sites to be unattended and quieter. After all, no one likes to be out and about when it’s freezing cold and wet outside! This makes businesses much more vulnerable, so it’s hugely important to consider your security agenda at this time of year.

Maintain a reputation of excellence, and do so via excellent security officers

Imagine arriving to work to find smashed windows, kicked in doors and various items stolen. Or worse, imaging arriving into work to find your security codes have been hacked and valuable information has been taken. This could be staff details, details about your finances, or details about your clients. This leaves your company exposed and extremely vulnerable. Whilst you may have ‘saved’ money by not investing in a quality security provider, you now have to pay for damages and recovering information.

What’s worse, is will you ever be able to make up for the cost to your reputation. Will your staff, clients or customers trust you again? This is a financial implication that many business owners overlook, yet arguably it the most important factor when it comes to security. Prevention is always better than a cure, and this is especially the case when it comes it preventative security measures.

    Is your industrial site secure?

Industrial sites tend to be away from residential areas, and they’re known for having expensive machinery inside often poorly protected buildings. It’s often the case that industrial sites utilise shift working patterns too. This makes it difficult to keep the building secure, as so many people regularly come and go, making it tricky to keep an eye on unauthorised personnel gaining access to restricted areas. This makes it particularly important to assess your security needs and hire an experienced security provider that understands your specific requirements.

    The importance of corporate security

Theft is one of the most common types of a security breach in the corporate world. Alongside accounting fraud and corruption, corporate security inflicts far more damage on society than all of street crime combined. This highlights the necessity for private security firms like Carter Solutions and Services Limited to provide a professional and reliable service to prevent and manage crime at your business.

Why is a SIA license important?

Security officers granted additional powers to tackle crime

Crime happens everywhere. Whilst Carter Solutions and Services Limited focus on commercial security at your place of work, the truth is that crime isn’t exclusive to business premises. For example, our door supervisors know this only too well, as being responsible for the security at licensed gaming venues, as well as nightclubs, gives them an insight into what goes on in the early hours of the morning of a town centre. This often requires our team to step in to diffuse situations, operating within the confines of the law as dictated by SIA licensing standards, before calling the local authorities.
