Temperatures in Britain reached terrifying highs this week, with the Met Office calling it a milestone in UK climate history. On 19th July, 40.3 degrees Celsius was reached in Lincolnshire, with night time temperatures also reaching record-breaking levels. Whilst most of us would have been feeling hot, lethargic and concentrating on how to best keep as cool as possible, that isn’t the case for everyone! A heatwave can easily lead to a crime wave, making security an important factor to business owners.

Levels of violent crime are affected by temperature, with perpetrators being hot and bothered, tempers can boil over in more ways than one! An article in The Guardian suggests that higher temperatures can make people more impulsive, with violent acts being committed quite literally in the heat of the moment.

With climate change and global warming becoming more and more apparent, heat waves such as the one we just saw could become much more of a normality. Thankfully, there are a number of ways to secure your business to prevent it becoming a target when temperatures soar.
