A recent article from Security Magazine got our attention this week, titled, 'Security Robots on Patrol'. Naturally, we wanted to read on, and it goes on to say that due to staffing issues, an American firm decided to explore the opportunity of utilising a robot to assist security officers with their job duties. AI, artificial intelligence, is particularly popular at the moment, especially in the private sector, so it was only a matter of time before robots appeared in the security industry.

Technology enhances the job that our security officers do, there is no doubt about that. The below are just a few examples of how we used technology at CSS Ltd:

  • CCTV -- all of our security guards are trained on how to use CCTV, and we offer it as one of our key services.
  • Body cameras -- every one of our security officers are fitted with a body camera as standard. This helps to protect our guards by recording key information.
  • Deputy -- This is our 'Security Attendance and Welfare' app that can be accessed at all of our sites, enabling our staff to communicate effectively, no matter where they are.

The article by Security Magazine goes on to explain how security robots also act as an excellent deterrent to crime. Whilst we're pleased they seem to have a found a solution to their staff shortage, there's one key difference that makes our security officers completely irreplaceable, and that's their training.

Why are CSS Ltd security officers better than a robot?

A robot is simply unable to diffuse a situation should it arise, and that's a huge part of a security officer's role.

Whether the contract is for a door supervisor, a mobile patrol or event security, there is always a risk that a member of the public could cause trouble. Maybe they've been refused entry, or perhaps they have been asked to leave - any number of reasons could cause someone to cause a scene. The skill here for a security officer to either raise the alarm and call the local authorities or diffuse the situation to ensure no one gets hurt. This is something that a robot simply can't do.

We have a purpose-built training facility, which hopefully demonstrates just how seriously we take the training of our staff. We also never subcontract so we can be confident that each and every member of the team is more than capable of handling a difficult situation when at work should it arise.

We understand that when our security officers are on site, they are representing your company, as well as our own, and it's for that reason we take training so seriously. However efficient a robot might be, they will never be able to read a situation and react with compassion, professionalism and experience.

For more information on how our security officers could work alongside your business to heighten your security, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you.
