Staff appreciation has never been more important, and we want each and every one of our security officers to feel valued within the team -- because they are! We also know just how important it is to set out exactly what our expectations are because this in itself is shown to improve staff performance, independence and accountability.

So what's in it for the team? Well, each month, the winner will receive a trophy and a £50 Amazon voucher!

How do you become an award-winning security guard?

The good news is that if you're already part of the CSS Ltd team, then you will automatically be included in the competition. Each month, Tony will look at individual performance alongside 5 key categories.

1.Presentation

Are you wearing the correct uniform? Are you of smart appearance?

When you wear the CSS Ltd uniform, you're representing us as a company. But it's so much more than that - research has shown that wearing a uniform gives you a sense of belonging, equality and responsibility.

As you might already know, the right uniform for our security officers depends on the actual site that they're working on and their role. But, they should all be wearing:

  • A white shirt
  • Black trousers
  • Black shoes
  • CSS Ltd tie and lanyard
  • And either CSS Blazer or CSS PPE

2. Communication

Due to the nature of our business, communication is huge. Whilst it may seem like an obvious point, communicating appropriately will help in keeping our staff safe and ensure they're all aware of internal changes or opportunities within the business.

For example:

  • Are you confirming your shifts with the Deputy App?
  • Are you replying to deputy messages?
  • Are you replying to the admin team when they email you?
  • Do you answer your phone, or respond to voicemails?

3.Time Attendance

As with any place of work, good timing keeping is something every employee should abide by. Tony will, therefore, be looking at whether staff are on time to work, and whether the 'late' procedure is implemented?

For future reference, if you are going to be late to your shift, you must inform us as soon as possible on the office phone number 01945 897377, which goes to an out of hours phone if we are not in the office.

4.Reports

All of our staff know how important it is to send in their daily shift report and ensure it contains the right amount of detail. The daily report will, of course, depend on the site, and what needs to be in each report is discussed with each individual member of staff.

5.Team Player

CSS Ltd is a team, and as such there will be times when we need to pull together to cover annual leave and illness. For this reason, Tony will be looking at whether staff pick up extra shifts on additional sites or cover holiday for their colleagues.

We're excited to see who the first winner will be at the end of September, and we wish you all the very best of luck!
