This Sunday 10th May, the Prime Minister will outline the next steps in how the country will be reacting to COVID-19. It's expected that social distancing measures will be relaxed and certain stores will be allowed to open -- with measures in place to protect employees and customers. For us personally, it might mean being able to reconnect with family and friends in what is being called a social 'bubble', and professionally it means stepping up and providing security to assist high street stores that will need to open opening with new social distancing measures in place.

In this ever-evolving and difficult time, it's our responsibility to give people safe -- including our security officers. We're dedicated to keeping informed, staying safe and understanding exactly what is required from both our clients and the general public. The focus is always on protecting the most vulnerable people in the community.

What might the new measures include?

There's a lot of speculation on what the new 'road map' for the country is going to look like, but our research has shown that the following might be possibilities.

1. Shorter store opening times

Supermarkets and other essential shops already have reduced opening times, and this is expected to still be the case when/if other shops open. We are already assisting many stores up and down the country and will continue to work around them and adapt contracts to meet different opening times.

2. Staggered shift patterns to reduce busy commutes

In sectors other than, and including retail, it might be that shift patterns are staggered quite dramatically. This would reduce the number of people on public transport in what is typically known as 'rush hour', and therefore supporting social distancing measures. This might mean that offices or warehouses are open for longer, to accommodate varying shifts, and as a security force, we can ensure your business premises is protected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

3. Revised social distancing measures

There's speculation that the 2-meter rule might be reduced to 1.5 meters and other such changes. If this is the case, we can be ready to support and inform members of the public and staff so government guidelines are maintained.

4. Reopening schools to specific year groups

Nurseries, preschools, schools, colleges and universities are currently closed, except for key worker children who need care. If schools are to reopen, even to just specific year groups with impending exams to prepare for, we can be on hand to support. We're fully experienced in providing security for the educational sector, and we'd be happy to step in and support you.
