At the end of March, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have chosen to step down as senior royals, ending their royal duties and relocating to Canada on a part-time basis. In a recent statement, Canada has made it clear that once the royals step down, they will no longer provide security for them. As Harry and Megan are currently internationally protected persons, Canada has had a legal obligation to provide security for them on an as-needed basis. When this no longer becomes the case, it will be down to they themselves to source their own security.

So, what should the royal duo need to be aware of when contracting their own security provider?

1. Qualifications

Qualifications ultimately mean proper training, and that's something that can't be compromised. With Carter Solutions and Services Limited, we ensure every single one of our security officers at holds a valid SIA license. We also make a point to never subcontract security officers, to ensure that we can maintain a high level of training.

2. Flexibility

It's important for everyone to ensure that the security provider they choose is flexible enough to work around their needs. Just like Megan and Harry, it might be that your business only requires a security presence for certain blocks of time, or it might be that you require a professional security presence 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This means building a contract tailored to your business, with the right level of security to keep your business safe within your budget, of course.

3. Service area

Even those the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be splitting their time between England and Canada, it's likely they'll still be doing a lot of travelling too. Whilst their situation is likely very different from most of the businesses we provide security for, it highlights an important point, to consider the service area you need cover for. We're proud to operate on a national scale, as a local business we've taken the time to grow in such a way that ensures the quality of the services we offer isn't compromised. By offering a national service, we know we can provide excellent security up and down the country.

4. Experience

With experience comes confidence, competence and knowledge that newer firms might not have. Not only does it make Carter Solutions and Services excellent at understanding exactly what makes a brilliant security service, but it means the training we provide our security guards is incredibly in-depth, and it also demonstrates that we're an established and reliable company.
