Working in the security industry requires a certain type of individual. A security officer can be a highly pressured role at times, but it carries with it job satisfaction that is difficult to come by in other career choices. To be a security officer at Carter Solutions and Services Limited, you need to not only demonstrate your willingness to learn, but you must hit the below criteria too. We put a huge amount of trust into each and every security officer who works with us, expecting them to represent us professionally and work hard when working remotely with a variety of different clients.

So, before you consider applying for a security officer position, ask yourself if you fit the following criteria.

1.Physical and mental strength

Whilst you don't need to be at the peak of physical fitness with a strong physical stature, having a good level of base fitness and knowing your own strength is essential for a successful security officer. At times, you may be expected to resolve a disagreement or handle someone trespassing on the business premises you're patrolling. Whilst the skill is in dissolving such situations before they become volatile, you may be required to restrain individuals until the authorities arrive, and whilst the right training can ensure you don't get injured, having an understanding of your limits is essential.

Unfortunately, mental strength is a huge factor as well. Security officers can be subject to verbal abuse, and whilst unpleasant and unfounded, knowing not to take it personally is vital. Long night shifts and solitary working could also be aspects of the role, making mental strength a key factor in successful security officers.

2.Willingness to undertake personal development

We take training incredibly seriously at Carter Solutions and Services Limited, and you will need to hold an SIA licence before applying for a position with us. This is just the start though, and we will continue to offer training programs and refresher courses throughout your career. Our clients expect highly trained security officers, and only with ongoing thorough training can we be confident in the ability and the safety of our security team.

3.Trustworthy nature

Working remotely means we must be able to trust you, and our clients must be able to trust you'll do your job well too. Trustworthiness is much more than simply expecting a security officer to turn up to their shift on time though. Services such as alarm response and keyholding mean you'll be trusted with keys and entry codes to business premises, but even door supervisors need to be trusted by both the client and members of the public to keep everyone safe. Having a strong moral compass and a trustworthy nature is, therefore, an essential characteristic of all Carter Solutions and Services Limited security officers.
