Before submitting your application to us, you will first need to gain your SIA license. There are a number of things to consider before doing so, listed below.

  • Identification

First and foremost you will need to provide identification that proves that you are who you say you are. This will need to be a photographic form of ID, such as a passport or driving license, as well as a form of identification that proves your address. This could be a utility bill or bank statement, for example.

More information can be found here: https://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Pages/licensing-id-checklist.aspx

  • Age

In order to obtain an SIA license, you must be over the age of 18.

  • Qualifications

Obtaining an SIA license isn't as simple as just applying, there is extensive training to complete, and you'll need to provide proof that you have completed this training. This training covers key areas that all security officers need to know.

Details of the training required can be found here: https://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Pages/training-qualifications-sg.aspx

  • Criminality

If you have a criminal record, that doesn't automatically mean you won't be accepted. However, the Security Industry Authority will consider your offences when it comes to making their decision, as well as your sentencing and how recent the offences are.

If you're concerned, you can find out more information by using their Criminal Record Indicator: https://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Pages/licensing-cri.aspx

  • Right to Work

You will need to have the right to work in the UK

  • Mental Health

Whilst having a mental health condition does not exclude you from working as a security officer, the SIA will look at any recent mental health problems you might have experienced. Working as a security officer is not an easy job -- it requires shift work, lone working and a very real element of risk and this can be detrimental to a person's mental health.

So, if you're looking to further your career within the security industry and you have a valid SIA license -- or you are in the process of applying for one, please check the careers section on our website or email us an up to date copy of your C.V.

We are currently recruiting for Door Supervisors, Security Officers, Gate House Officers, Mobile Patrol Officers and Manned Guard-Reception Officers - for full-time and part-time positions. We never subcontract our staff, we invest in their training and we work hard to support our staff. If you could picture yourself as working for one of the leading security companies in the UK, please get in touch.

We look forward to meeting you!
